That was a real stupid thing you did to your wrist, kid. If you really wanted to kill yourself, you would have run the blade lengthwise inside your forearm. Instead, you cut across the wrist and instead of dying, all you did was make a mess.
Because you’re not on the midnight train to the big sayonara, you must have failed to Google your suicide method of choice. My guess is that you really didn’t want to die. You just wanted a little bit of attention.
I got news for you, kid: not a whole lot of people really care if you check out or not. That’s the cold, hard truth about life. It goes on with or without you.
Yeah, I know you think you’ve got it tough. I ain’t gonna say that you don’t. I’d feel pretty low, too, if my pops was a three-strike loser doing life in the can and my mom was an ex-prostitute junkie with AIDS. But hey, life ain’t fair. The Man Upstairs might have dealt you some shitty cards, but it’s up to you to make the best of them.
If you’re gonna check out, go ahead and check out. Do us all a favor next time and do it right. But if you’re gonna stick around, knock it off with all the drama. Your attention whoring is costing other people time and money.

hard core! it is probably a cry for help (whether it was a true suicide attempt, or “cutting”)–whatever’s going on at home or in his head is probably more full of drama than his behavior. i hope he finds the right venue for help.

Once they’ve survived a third suicide attempt, they start to lose my interest and, more importantly, my sympathy.
Three strikes, you’re OUT.

maybe it’s cuz I work with at-risk youth, but I don’t completely agree with y’all. taking your own life isn’t a game, no matter how much you wanna downplay it. the real question you should be asking isn’t “why didn’t you do it right?”, but “what made you wanna do it?” neglect is just as heavy a reason as any.

Maria, I think we have more than enough people in the world. One who doesn’t value his life shouldn’t be missed.

Iron Pugilist, in the greater scheme of things, none of us will be missed. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t care about each others’ well-being; it just gives people an excuse to be uncaring toward each other.
Because I’m home, sick with the flu, and have nothing better to do, I’m gonna be tongue-in-cheek and add this:
“Research has shown that 90 percent of people who kill themselves have depression or another diagnosable mental or substance abuse disorder.” - http://www.allaboutdepression.com. By generalizing the suicidal public as people whose “li[ves] shouldn’t be missed”, one is making a qualitative claim about the value of depressed/mentally ill/drug-addicted peoples’ lives. READ: Most suicidal people are unhealthy. The generalized claim is made that a suicidal person’s life is not as valuable as the life of someone who isn’t suicidal. Ergo, it is to be extracted that the lives of unhealthy people are less valuable than the lives of healthy people.

I don’t think there’s any better sign that you’re a failure than failing at offing yourself. I see it as proof that you should go ahead and end it.

there are many sick and dying people who’d have loved to live a little longer.. i wish you’d told him this, even if it means grabbing him by the collar against the wall. Someone needs to wake him up..

Kimchihead:
Great bit of dialog. Actually, I feel the same way. Either do, or get off the pot. But stop teasing me.
If you aren’t published, you should be.
HAve a nice day.

*shakes head* Forreal. Learn anatomy of the human body for a couple days and learn to identify your major artery if you want to commit suicide that way. X_X;; OI. Either that or get some help.

Hi Kimchihead,
That’s a tough-love narrative. It’s like a brutal wake-up call…and calling someone out to stop their BS. That’s why you’re so good at what you do…and that is hard core writing. Great work.

Loaded with cynicism though a great wake up call.
